The Most Beautiful Street In Buenos Aires

Walking down cobblestone streets in Recoleta, Palermo, and Belgrano is its own kind of pleasure for anyone visiting Buenos Aires.

And yet, this street, often crowned the most beautiful of all, isn’t a central lane in popular neighborhoods.

Tucked away, Av Melian is, in my opinion, one of the best and most picturesque streets in the city, for sure.

On a cooler summer day in 2025, we took a stroll down here and snapped a few photos 📸

How to get here:

  • The easiest way is to simply take the Retiro – Mitre train and get off at Belgrano R station. However, the trains often don’t run on weekends, so check at the station or on their Twitter.
  • if you enjoy walking, a 50-min walk from Palermo is a pleasant one, especially on a Sunday when most of the places are closed, andthe city is asleep and resting
  • Taxi (car or even moto taxi) is very reliable as well, I would order to this address: Av. Melián 2321, C1428 Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, as it can be a starting point and then you walk down the street (so you don’t get dropped off in the middle). It will be on the other side of the street from this house:

We actually walked all the way from Palermo Hollywood as I just love walking in BsAs.

On your way here, you will already spot a few beautiful houses in the neighborhood.

If you’re like us and will make a walk from Palermo or Canitas, make your walking go through Pasaje General Paz – this historic building will also impress you!

There are no coffee shops or boutiques along Melian Street, but there will be two at the end of the passage, around the corner, so be patient 🙂

On this cobblestone avenue with impressively wide and clean sidewalks, stunning mansions go back to back with old condos, the latter completely hidden by towering trees and not disrupting the view so much at all.

There are mostly just residential houses of amazing architecture to marvel at:

We just got here on our own and didn’t take a tour, but if you want to learn more about upper-class Argentians, British architecture and some bits of history of this area + some other things about Belgrano, there is only one walking tour that takes people here:

But there is also a pretty one housing Cuban Consulate:
